Tom of Finland: The Art of Pleasure gathers together the gay erotic art of Tom of Finland, offering representative examples of his work from the 1940s to the 1980s, and providing most everything the Tom of Finland fan could want from such a collection. The drawings from the 1940s are inferior to Tom's subsequent work, being notably crude in execution, but they help give a better impression of Tom's work as a whole. The drawings from the 1950s are very different, and represent a major step forward for Tom as an artist; the careful viewer will note that Tom was still improving and refining his style as late as the 1980s. The work includes an introduction by Micha Ramakers.
This massive an impressive work is full of art from Tom of Finland. It shows work from all periods of his life. The pictures are mostly in B&W but some are colour. The works are typical Tom of Finland. The volume is thick, large and heavy. a most impressive book to display on a shelf or on the coffee table as a conversation starter. The book can be a bit pricy but as I said it is very large and a good collection of art from tom's various periods. Buy it if you are a collector, you will want to keep it nice. If you just wanna be titalated buy a less expensive and expansive wotk of Mr. Finlands
